John Elgee, (Chapter Pres around 1968-69) recently sent me an e-mail saying he was coming to Sacramento. He and his wife both ran and both completed the California International Marathon. John stayed on for a day to make connections and go on to fish in a derby in Nicaragua....says he is retired and the trout in the western hemisphere are nervous!

I did not get to meet his wife, but John and I got together for a morning remembering and swapping a few updates and asking if either of us had recently heard from the likes of the Rhodes brothers, JJ Johnson, Wortley, Worsley, Murphy, Cegnar, Rich, Pruett, Grey, Byers, Holmes, the Birch brothers, Reynolds,....and too many more to mention all of you.

Frankly our updates were pretty spotty....so you need to fill in the blanks for us if you were in the house in the late 60's or early 70's write something here.

John lives 50 miles north of Anchorage, Alaska and has his own float plane. Consider that they were training for a marathon in that climate. Think I got this right that he spent some time in the Marines, the Alaska national guard, and the FAA. He retired 2 years ago. This was his third marathon -- on his second his time was good enough to qualify to run in Boston, but he did not do that.

His wife is a runner as well. She is still working for the FAA--she, John, and you have to forgive my brain since John told me her name at least three times--but me without a pen... He has chased a lot of trout from Victoria Island in the Arctic to south of the equator and they have a second trip planned to Africa. By the way the red hair is still there.

Was great to see him and spend a few hours. Any of you coming through Sacramento, I will buy the coffee.

Celeste and my year's been great. Got to see the Cubs play the Dodger's at Wrigley Field and then toured Yankee Stadium (Yankees were out of town) in the same vaca this fall. The job has been hopping with failed condominium construction projects and bankers that needed a receiver--so I have been learning the condo biz. Looks like next year will have plenty of business headaches--always something new.

It was a treat to hear from John and spend some time so if you're going some place were there's a brother hit 'em with an e-mail and catch a cup.

The very best of the holidays and new year. Bob Greeley ---think its #141.
